The End of Endless Healing

The way forward requires our undivided presence

the end of endless healing sinclair fleetwood

I became a psychedelic coach and medicine guide by accident. Because I was so good at healing myself. Through building relationships with plant teachers, I delved into the nuances of every dark corner. Every unconscious pattern. Every shadow that lurked underneath the surface, waiting for me to discover and vanquish or befriend it. I went back into the void with plant medicine again and again, always greeted with more material to sort through. Traveling with trust to the hidden, armored places, and finding my way out again with clarity and new direction.

I began to lead ceremony for others, relying on my own mapping of the maze to walk with people through their own dark shadows and return more whole. More honest. More present. Together, we started building a real-life spiritual family in the mountains of Appalachia and beyond. Doing the soft labor of integration together. It was never just about the medicine, but cultivating right relationship and community inside a human family.

The Engineered Lie of Brokenness

Like many in service, I became yet another healer struggling to survive and make a living inside late-stage capitalism. Each day, holding my heart and authenticity in my hands. Offering a true path of lived experience instead of giving false promises and quick-fix solutions that don’t change anything. Trusting the process. Trusting the Universe. The proverbial wounded healer, constantly limited by my own unending healing processes.

Ancestral trauma? Check. Overcoming addiction and chronic pain? Check. Mystery illnesses and debilitating physical symptoms without end? Check. Dozens of spiritual business coaching and personal healing programs? Check. I have spent decades learning and healing. Doing shadow work. And cementing myself inside an identity of being a coach who heals. Only to find myself on yet another spiritual side quest dedicated to more healing. Every single time.

Arriving here is my heroic act of sovereign defiance. After five seasons of creating The Psychedelic Integration Podcast, writing and creating from the “pick-me,” people pleasing energy of my collapsed feminine and over-functioning masculine. Trying so hard to make an integrative coaching business thrive through platforms I actively distrust. That make me feel bad about myself and undermine my confidence. Places of so-called connection that strip me of my attention and presence. And instead distract and incept me with the belief that I need more fixing and optimizing. Tools of extreme isolation that activate my inner critic and actively undermine the very core beliefs I have about myself. Because they are created for precisely that purpose.

The thing is, deprogramming your mind, reconnecting to Nature, and coming into relationship with your role in your suffering isn’t popular. It’s not as loud or sexy or catalytic as the awakened language of miraculous medicine journeys, downloads from other dimensions, starseeds, and lightcodes. It’s not as tidy as receiving a reading or listening to a podcast that don’t require anything from you. The etheric astral language of vague spiritual healing is meant to mesmerize you into thinking you’re transforming when you’re just standing still.

None of the so-called solutions we are consuming require anything. Not even reciprocity. And that feels like violence. The same way that having visuals on psychedelics is not the same as enacting a vision for your life.

Endless journeying, processing, and examining is just circling a mental maze. Our life purpose is not about collecting more knowledge. It’s about turning that knowledge into wisdom.

We must decide to live in the present. The real world, with all it’s limitations and ugliness and beauty. To inhabit the fleshy, flawed, unmanageable body. To open to the sensual aliveness of being breathing creatures with wild aches and desires. To acknowledge the artist inside and the creative fire that is burning you from within. To unleash the lover seeking Eros and refusing to settle for anything less. To practice the art of finding magic in the mundane.

If Not Now, When? If Not You, Who?

Corrupted systems and rotting institutions are collapsing around us. We are here in vulnerable, stagnant bodies trying to ascend out of our humanness through screens and disassociation. While black and brown bodies are being murdered in the streets by our own government and in genocides all over the world. Where women – myself, and my sisters – are being ravaged by the deep grief of betrayal and violation from the masculine wearing the oppressive uniform of patriarchy.

If personal healing work isn’t in deeper service to creating generational wellness for the collective and Earth herself, I don’t want it. If it isn’t for all our relations, it isn’t enough. And yet still, we’re using spiritual exploration as an escape hatch to jettison ourselves into another timeline where things just stay the same so we don’t have to actually change anything.

This denial of humanity will be our demise if we don’t start taking personal responsibility and rising into spiritual leadership when it is not popular, profitable, or easy. We have to stop choosing what’s convenient and start admitting how deeply miserable and empty this way of life truly is.

Why I No Longer Believe in Endless Healing

There is no amount of ayahuasca or breathwork or meditation (or starting a spiritual business) that can magically disappear the deep rooted belief that there is something wrong inside, and your life purpose is to fix it. That your lack of happiness and serenity is the result of personal failure. Because you’re broken. And I don’t believe in offering work from silent acceptance of that belief system. There is nothing wrong with you. Or me. Never has been.

Healing is the natural state of a system at ease. Wellness is our natural state. It is flow. It is restful and joyful and capable of holding the spectrum of human emotion without collapsing. It is already within us. And our only work is to get whatever is in the way of accessing that state out of the way. Healing is the natural result of living in alignment with your values and beliefs. healing is not an infinite journey. Once you get it, you’re healed. You don’t have to keep digging and solving. You can just… experience. Enjoy. Feel. Be alive.

The tools and teachers and ceremonies are not wrong. The medicine is our ally for remembering our oneness with all of consciousness. That’s why it’s powerful and necessary. But not for healing forever. For remembering. That you deserve to be here. You have great power. And you can decide to be free anytime you want by just being present.

Psychedelics can lull you into staying in the entrance of the temple. Admiring the arches and intricate carvings and walking back and forth through the same doorway again and again. But some of us are gathering in the temple to create a new village. And that requires critical thinking and decision making. Taking action. It requires pledging allegiance to living by your values. Even when it’s uncomfortable and inconvenient. It requires tearing out old programming and belief systems and installing more beneficial ones. And doing this over and over as you gather new information and life experience.

The great change is sprouting from connection and therefore requires our full presence. That we take our attention and time back from influencers and celebrities and endless fake plastic digital garbage and starting thinking for ourselves. Start tending to what’s in front of us.

The Soft, Rooted Revolution

I am here in service of a soft, rooted revolution. I want transformation covered in mud. I want to roll around in a creek bed and let the ancient, algae covered rock tickle my skin and transmit the secrets of the stone people. I want to enroll in Moss University, where the plant kingdom colonizes me and makes me one of their own tenured emissaries. I want to speak hawk medicine. To stare in the eyes of bears. To frolic in healthy forests. To dance with spiders and slither with snakes. The hear the whispers of jasmine and lilac in the wind. The soft lull of fields full of wildflowers. I want to sing the song of the river, without that fear that we somehow don’t belong in nature. I want to be the keeper of bees and the champion of birds, and the one who speaks to the trees and they speak back.

Most of all, I want to listen. To hold space with compassion. Without judgment, because we are all just trying to figure this thing out. To let the love in my heart lead instead of the fear. To feel the fear and do it anyway. I will use my voice to speak from the heart, regardless of outcome. I want to plant a garden. To tend to it. To use technology to gather and connect rather than isolate. To teach and to learn. To transmit heart wisdom. To walk you through thresholds again and again because I know the way home.

Can we allow ourselves to suffer and sing at the same time? Because that is what humanity has always done. The ones leading the spiritual movement will not be curated and pretty. We will be armed with swords and weathered. Experienced. Wizened and worn and happy for it. We are warriors of the heart who have practiced the art of allowing it all. We’ve got scars and mischief filled eyes. We’re making it up as we go along, looking for resonance in the hearts of our kin.
