Clarity only comes when you stop moving.

When you allow silence and space and time to bring their presence deep into your life and open you. Crack you wide. To fill all the emptiness with the light of awareness. Being still feels like a luxury. A fairy tale most of us have no idea how to actually practice.

And it’s the thing we need the most. Like throwing open all the windows in the room and inviting the breeze to come in and refresh everything.

Air is the lightest and least dense element. And yet its interwovenness with the mind makes it feel sharp and buzzy. Like if you let yourself stop, slow down, and wait… you might suffocate in all that space.

We are taught to GO. To move. To check the list, follow the directions, get things done. Be productive. So we believe that our value comes from doing. What can you achieve? How much can you do? How can you excel and prove yourself?

And so we perform. We demonstrate our value and worthiness by overdoing it in every possible area. Under promise and over deliver. Because without all the achievement and accolades and approval and outside validation… we are afraid we are deeply unworthy of love.

And so we learn to never sit still. To never stop. To never sit with it. We lost the ability to self-regulate. To orient within. We are looking for someone or something else to make it ok.

We become codependent in every possible way. In relationships, friendships, in families. We forget our inherent value. Our innate worth. And we look for it outside of ourselves. We hand over our own agency and sovereignty in exchange for making sure everyone else is okay and happy and pleased with us.

And we become afraid to breathe. To take time to process. To feel. To contemplate. To just…BE. To be human and flawed and independent.

Because being a disappointment to people or letting people down or having someone be upset with you feels impossible to hold. It is one of our deepest core wounds. The wound of abandonment. Of being ostracized. Of not being seen and accepted and loved.

We fear the air. The mind. The sword of discernment becomes a weapon we use to tear ourselves down. The mind becomes the enemy. Because when we are left alone with ourselves, we don’t trust that we can handle what comes up.

Because we just haven’t practiced. When we let the air and space and time come in, we begin to suffocate. Because we’ve forgotten how to breathe.

So when you start working with plant medicine, this urgency to DO and move the energy and feel all the feelings and keep going to ceremony and have more journeys and go back into that safe space of connection and wholeness you feel with medicine is so powerful.

But we are not here to create codependent relationships with plants. We are here to move from the shadows of self-suffocation, isolation, neediness, and smothering, into the gift of sensitivity and collaboration. Our evolution is co-creation.

To being highly attuned to our own needs, and meeting them fully. So that we can show up fully attuned to the needs of others. Of the ones we love. And the collective as a whole.

We are ultimately being asked to awaken this power inside our DNA. To heal and repair within ourselves. To patch the energy leaks. To correctly assess our own capacity so that we can give ourselves the room we need to invite more in. To go beyond the five senses and awaken your intuition, your inherent ability to speak and feel energy, and to stop taking everything so fucking personally.

On this week’s podcast, I’m sharing about why we need space, the ways we throttle ourselves when we don’t allow it, and how to fix it. Tune in and breathe deep.

Love,
Sinclair
